Sam Borek
Since 1977, banking and real estate attorney Sam Borek has been
the founder and managing partner of the Law Offices of Borek & Associates,
P.C.. Mr. Borek’s practice focuses on banking, real estate, business
and commercial law and estate planning. His expertise includes
assisting clients with complex business planning issues such
as corporate and partnership agreements, multi-state and estate
planning, as well as consulting with companies in transition.
Mr. Borek has over four decades of experience counseling Boards
of Directors, Committees of Independent Directors and management
of public and privately owned companies in matters of corporate
governance.
Sam Borek is also a highly esteemed banking attorney. Since
the late 1990’s, Borek has been actively involved in the banking
industry, most recently named chairman of OptimumBank holdings
in December 2009. Borek joined OptimumBank in 2001 and
the holding company in 2004. He has also served as the Chairman
of the Board of NCB Holdings, Inc., the parent company of New
Century Bank in Chicago and as Co-Chairman of the corporate governance
and ethics committee.
Mr. Borek is actively involved in Real Estate Development and
Rehabilitation, acquiring and rehabilitating residential homes,
numerous commercial shopping centers, offices buildings and nursing
homes. As a crucial part of this work, he has prepared numerous
private placement documents and REITs in order to provide guidance
to potential investors. Sam also owns a number of closely held
companies and serves as an office and director of First Capital
Mortgage a Mortgage Company of Chicago, IL, Lakeview Nursing & Rehabilitation
Centre Inc., Estate Properties and CBS Development Corporation.
In addition to his business and legal interests, Mr. Borek is
very involved in community service. In the late ‘90s, he
served as the President of the Board of Education of Niles Township
High School District 219 – his tenure was ten years. He is a
member of the Illinois Council of School Attorneys as well as
a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association
and Chicago Bar Association.
Attorney Sam Borek received his Bachelor degree from the University
of Illinois with honors and his J.D. from DePaul University with
honors.

Chad Poznansky
Chad Poznansky is a senior attorney at Borek & Associates,
P.C., where he focuses on real estate, corporate law, and estate
planning.
During his time with the firm, he has negotiated and closed
both commercial and residential real estate transactions of
varying sizes. He counsels newly-formed community associations,
beginning with developer control and continuing through to
assisting with turnover to owners. This includes working with
developers in condominium conversion projects, specifically
preparing property reports.
His corporate experience includes setting up companies and
serving as general counsel, particularly specializing in small
to medium-sized companies. Mr. Poznansky has helped several
start-ups raise private equity funds to successfully launch
growing businesses. He has drafted a number of private placement
memoranda and prepared and filed the necessary documents with
Federal and State securities divisions.
Mr. Poznansky is an experienced estate planning attorney. He
maintains a close relationship with his clients throughout
the estate planning process to determine what services will
best meet their needs.
Chad Poznansky was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2006. Prior
to earning his Juris Doctor from DePaul University, Mr. Poznansky
graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with
a Bachelor of Science in Finance. His specializations included
Real Estate and Business Management.
Chad has always enjoyed using his legal skills to help others.
He served for several years as an Associate Board Member for
the Christopher House, a community organization offering full-service
support to families in need. Additionally, he took part in
a Hurricane Katrina relief trip to offer legal advice and help
with clean up. While at DePaul, he worked in the law school’s
legal clinic providing free services to not-for-profit organizations
in low-income Chicago communities.
A native of Morton Grove, Illinois, he currently resides in
Chicago.
Daniel Borek
Daniel Borek is an associate attorney at Borek & Associates,
P.C. where he focuses on real estate, corporate law, and estate
planning. Before graduating from law school in 2009, Daniel
worked as a law clerk at the firm for several years, assisting
with legal research and drafting complaints on a wide variety
of topics including commercial and residential real estate
transactions and corporate law.
Daniel passed the Florida Bar in 2009. Prior to earning his
Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of
Law, Mr. Borek received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology
and Law. In May 2010 Daniel Borek was admitted to the Illinois
Bar.
Daniel is dedicated to giving back to the community and has
volunteered for many years at the Lakeview Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center and as a karate teacher for athletes with disabilities
for N.S.M.A.A.
C. Shawn Jones
After practicing law for eight years in the Atlanta, Georgia
area, Shawn Jones relocated to the Chicago region in 2005.
He is now a senior attorney at Borek & Associates, P.C.,
where he focuses on all aspects of litigation and real estate
law.
Mr. Jones has experience handling a wide range of matters
in representing large, mid-sized, and small businesses from
their inception to their dissolution and everything in between.
He has litigated employment issues, contract disputes, trademark,
construction, imminent domain, tax, securities, real estate,
and collection actions, among other types of matters. While
the first two years of his practice focused on employment discrimination
cases, thereafter he has represented businesses and individuals
as their needs required.
Shawn has appeared in Federal District Court, probate, domestic
relations, magistrate, municipal, chancery, and law courtrooms.
He has also closed multi-million dollar real estate and business
deals, including commercial, residential, and multi-family.
Shawn attended Georgia State University College of Law, graduating
in 1997 and gaining admission to the Georgia Bar that same
year. He maintains membership in that state’s bar, but gained
admission to the Illinois Bar in 2006. Prior to attending law
school, Shawn attended Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, graduating
as an English Major with an American History concentration.
A resident of Evanston, Shawn is active in the community.
He is a part-time reporter for the Evanston RoundTable newspaper
covering City government including City Council and City politics.
He is a member of the Oberlin College alumni council as a member
of the Career Services Advisory Committee helping students
and graduates enter the working world after graduation.
